Some
News
- February 2006: Spent a week in Kirkland
Lake. An incredible time and a great bunch of human beings. It was a
busy time with a concert for the youth on Friday the 3rd; a Guitar Logic Seminar on
Saturday; a brief performance that night at Northern Lights Wesleyan
(thanks Dave); and then there was the very powerful morning service at Tower
Street Baptist. Gotta get back to Kirkland Lake when it's warmer.
September 2005: Played an 8-hour
benefit concert with the Musicians For Hope outside City Hall. The
event was covered by the Bob & Diana from 107.1FM and
served as a memorial for Bill Hunt whose tragic death was mourned by the
city. After Tim Hunt's stirring set, the finale saw several of the
artists performing Bill's favourite song, "The Weight" by The
Band. Dusted off my banjo for that one. (Photo L-R: Chris Dunwell, Al Murack, Bim, Tim
Hunt, Tim Campbell)
August 2005: Co-headlined
a concert in Belleville with Bethlehem Blues Collective from Cambridge,
Ontario. A great afternoon of blues and the first concert I'd done with a full band
since ... forever. To promote the concert, Tim Campbell joined me
for an interview and performance on UCB 102.3FM.
April 2005: Three
performances in one day. At the Bohemian Penguin in Belleville,
there was a 12-hour benefit concert organized by Tim Hunt of Musicians
For Hope to help the Gerald Bouder family after Gerald had been seriously injured
in an industrial accident. Between the two performances at the Penguin, I ran out to sing
at a local retirement home. Busy day.
March 2005: I played
with Robert Bailey's Band for a couple of concerts as they were short a
drummer. This was my first regular stint as a drummer since playing drums for Operation
GREASE back in 1975-76.
December 2004: Traveled
to Windsor to do a concert at the request of my good friend, Kevin
Rogers. Kevin is the pastor an incredible inner-city street
church. Immensely enjoyable. If you're ever in Windsor for a Sunday ... visit Kevin's
church and see what it's all about.
October 2004:
Had the privilege of jamming with the Glen Kaiser Band on stage for "If
I Leave This World Tomorrow". Glen is one of those people for whom
I've carried a great deal of respect for many years. Joining him onstage was a great
honour.
